Variant Cason di Lanza - Tarvisio

Length: 33.9 km
Type:

From the Cason di Lanza Pass at a height of 1,552 m above sea level, follow the narrow asphalted road which, passing by the Malga Rio Secco mountain hut and the houses in Carbonarie, descends to lower Studena. From here, the road continues wider as far as the centre of Pontebba at a height of 770 m above sea level. After crossing the Pontebbana torrent, following the signs for the Alpe Adria cycle path, turn left uphill and, after crossing the railway, follow via Deposito until you reach the viaducts on the A23 Motorway. Follow the cycle path signs along a narrow carriageway on the right-hand bank of the river Fella to the very first houses you can see in San Leopoldo-Laglesie. From here, the CAAR cycle path continues along the former railway line. Near Bagni di Lusnizza, the cycle path crosses the river Fella and continues on this side of the valley to Malborghetto, where it joins the Bike6 stage coming from the Rifugio Nordio-Deffar shelter.
Following the latter, continue towards Tarvisio at a height of 750 m above sea level or Monte Santo di Lussari at a height of 1,770 m above sea level (with the option of travelling also by cable car).
Length: 33.9 km.
Uphill gradient: 280 m.
Estimated travelling time: 4 hours (up to Tarvisio).
