Chiarsò Valley

This area is characterized by the presence of deep gorges, the most important of which is the “Stua di Ramaç”, tightly linked to the culture of autumnal transportation of timber from the woods, via navigation on the local rivers. Climbing towards the altitude of the pastures and nearing the Austrian border, soft grassy plateaus alternate with mighty calcareous massifs in a succession of fascinating landscapes. Along the many trails that connect the Paularo malghe visitors can observe bilberry bushes and the splendid blooming of rhododendrons. After downpours or prolonged rainfalls, numerous waterfalls descend from the ridges of the steep slopes across the valley. A particularly suggestive waterfall is the one denominated Salino. The Chiarsò Valley offers many other charming landmarks, such as the waterfall in the area of Chiaulis and Salino and the Las Callas Gorge on the torrent Chiarsò.
